You know, I really shouldn't read vampire books seeing as how I don't like vampire stories. I need to stop doing that.However, I will say Ron Perlman is a good reader. That shouldn't be surprising; he's always cast in a wide range of fantasy characters, yet I was still amazed at how much I enjoyed hearing him read.
I thought the story was slow to start and I was frustrated by the last few chapters. While I liked the old-fashioned horror story feel - not a lot of gory details while much is left to the imagination - I felt the pacing was off, the characters weren't the best, and I was really irked with the whole Kelly/Zack resolution.
These are pretty gross vampires, though. Blood worms? Ick! I liked that vampirism is a parasitic disease.
